First known as The Miami Evening Record, the Miami Herald was first published on September 15th, 1903. It was renamed to The Miami Herald in 1910. In 1951, it won its first 20 Pulitzer Prizes for reported crime. It was purchased by Ridder Publications in 1974, and then repurchased again by The McClatchy Company in 2006.
